House Majority Whip James E. Clyburn Campaigns With Glenn Nye in Norfolk
NORFOLK
The third-ranking member of the U.S. House of Representatives will be in Norfolk today to stump for Democratic congressional candidate Glenn Nye.
House Majority Whip James Clyburn of South Carolina will speak at 10:15 a.m. at the Murray Center, 455 E. Brambleton Ave. The Nye campaign said the candidate and the congressman will discuss veterans' issues.
Nye, a former foreign service officer and Virginia Beach resident, is running for the 2nd District seat currently held by Rep. Thelma Drake, a two-term Republican. The 2nd District includes Virginia Beach and part of Norfolk.
Clyburn was named majority whip in 2006, after the Democrats took control of the House of Representatives.
